This session will feature presentations from leading public health and consumer law experts Marice Ashe and Ted Mermin. They will speak to their experiences in designing and implementing model laws and policies to promote health equity across the United States and their experiences working with governments and communities to defend them against litigation.

- Marice Ashe, Lecturer, Berkeley Law, University of California and Founder ChangeLab Solutions. Marice has pioneered the use of law and policy to solve complex problems related to institutionalised inequities and poor community health, working with all levels of government and local communities. Her expertise is in health law and policy through the lens of systems thinking and social justice.
- Ted Mermin, Executive Director, Berkely Center for Consumer Law and Economic Justice, University of California. Ted has spent over a decade assisting local, state, and federal agencies in the development and defence of innovative policies in public health and consumer law and helping litigate consumer rights and public health cases. He has worked with legislatures and advocates in California and around the US to pass public health and consumer protection laws. His expertise is in consumer law and protection.
