Model food environment laws and sugary drink taxes – a US perspective
Video presentation with leading public health and consumer law experts Marice Ashe and Ted Mermin on designing and implementing model laws and policies to promote health equity across the United States.
Both presenters highlighted the importance of bringing researchers and lawyers together early to ‘turn science into legal briefs’ and the need for strong community engagement and support. They spoke of how public education around sugar and salt levels in food and drink outraged the community and helped drive policy.
