Professor Louise Baur AM
Professor Baur is Professor and Head of Child and Adolescent Health at the University of Sydney, and has a conjoint appointment as Professor in the Sydney School of Public Health. She is also a consultant paediatrician at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney. She is on the Editorial Board of Paediatric Obesity (formerly, Founding Editor-in-Chief).
Among her various community roles, Professor Baur is a member of the Governing Board of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, and was a Director of World Vision Australia (2009-2017).
Her research interests include the prevention and management of obesity in children and young people, health service responses to obesity, food marketing and children, and the measurement of obesity-related behaviours. She is Director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood (www.earlychildhoodobesity.com). In 2010, Professor Baur was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
