She will lead the next generation of the Prevention Centre, starting with us on Tuesday 14 November 2023.

Nadia has more than 25 years’ experience in strategy, operational management, public policy, partnerships and stakeholder engagement in the prevention landscape. She comes to us from her role as Director, Partnerships, with the Government of South Australia’s Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health. Her previous senior leadership positions have included roles in the Prevention and Population Health Directorate with Wellbeing SA and in the South Australian Department of Health and Wellbeing.

I look forward to joining the Prevention Centre and further cementing its position as the central independent infrastructure in the Australian prevention system sought by government and non-government decision makers.

Nadia Mastersson

Nadia has been associated with the Prevention Centre since its early days and has been involved in research projects including the establishment phase of Public health law: making it work for the prevention of chronic disease and Engaging maternity services to address smoking, alcohol consumption and weight gain in pregnancy. She was also a co-author, with members of our Leadership Executive and key partners, on a paper published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health last year – A call to action: More collaborative implementation research is needed to prevent chronic disease

Her appointment is warmly welcomed by Professor Andrew Wilson AO and Professor Lucie Rychetnik, who will continue in their roles as Co-Directors until completion of the current NHMRC grant on 31 December 2023.
