Professor Danielle Mazza AM
Chief Investigator and Director of SPHERE
Professor Danielle Mazza AM is a leading national and international general practice clinician researcher. She also holds the Chair of General Practice at Monash University where she has been Head of Department since 2010 and is the Director of the SPHERE NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health in Primary Care.
Danielle has made significant, sustained and ongoing contributions to advance general practice and primary health care in Australia in the field of women’s sexual and reproductive health. She has acquired more than $38 million in competitive research funding as a Chief Investigator and has 234 peer-reviewed publications in refereed journals. She is the sole author of the textbook “Women’s health in general practice” and has led and contributed to the development and implementation of key general practice guidelines (e.g. endometriosis & abortion) used nationwide.
Danielle also provides expert advice to professional, government and policy groups nationally and internationally and is currently a special adviser to the Australian government’s National Women’s Health Advisory Council, and a member of the Collaboration for Enhanced Research Impact (CERI) Steering Group representing SPHERE.
