This session will bring together experts in ethnography to explore the evolution of ethnographic methodology through its application in a range of contexts relating to health and prevention.

It will cover practical examples of applying various ethnographic methods, as well as the challenges and opportunities afforded by these approaches. We will also discuss video reflexive ethnography, a participatory visual approach to ethnography. Video-reflexive ethnographers engage in ethnographic fieldwork, accompanied by videoing of work practices and participants’ accounts of these practices. Selected footage is then shown to participants and their colleagues in researcher-facilitated ‘reflexive sessions’, to elicit collective sense-making about their work ‘as it really happens’.

This webinar will be facilitated by Dr Katherine Cullerton and Dr Victoria Loblay with guest speakers Dr Suyin Hor, Senior Lecturer in the School of Public Health at the University of Technology Sydney, and Dr Samuel Brookfield, PhD Research Fellow at the University of Queensland School of Public Health.
