Lauren Gibson
PhD candidate
Ms Lauren Gibson is a PhD Candidate at the University of Newcastle. She is passionate about reducing the inequitable burden of chronic disease for disadvantaged populations, including individuals with a mental health condition. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Newcastle, during which she examined the impact of a healthy lifestyle clinician on the receipt of chronic disease preventive care within a community mental health service.
Her PhD research topic is exploring the potential role of community managed organisations in delivering chronic disease preventive care to people with a mental health condition. She has a particular interest in peer workers within these organisations and the unique role they may play in delivering this care.
