Implementation science aims to understand how to get evidence into clinical practice, but even when we do, research translation achievements in one setting are notoriously difficult to replicate in another. Realist evaluation provides a useful framework to understand how and why interventions work under different circumstances. Presenter Dr Mitchell Sarkies is a Senior Lecturer, Sydney Horizon Fellow and NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow at the Sydney School of Health Sciences and co-leads the Sydney Health Partners Implementation Science Academy.

This presentation will introduce the use of realist evaluation in implementation research and provide examples from large scale value-based healthcare initiatives in NSW.
