Associate Professor Stephen Begg

Associate Professor Stephen Begg is an epidemiologist with over 25 years of experience in research and consultancy. He has held senior leadership roles in both academia and the public sector, and is currently Director of the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research at La Trobe University. Associate Professor Begg is best known for his work on quantifying the drivers of health disparities using burden of disease methods, a field which he helped develop in Australia and to which he has contributed through positions at the World Health Organization (WHO) and Harvard University and as a consultant for governments in Australia, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
