Professor Baur AM, FAHMS is Professor of Child and Adolescent Health at the University of Sydney, and has a conjoint appointment as Professor in the Sydney School of Public Health. She is an NHMRC Leadership Fellow. She is also a consultant paediatrician at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney.

Professor Baur is President of the World Obesity Federation (2022-2024). She has had previous roles as Director on the Governing Board of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, as a Director of World Vision Australia (2009-2017) and as a Founding Fellow and member of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. In 2010, Professor Baur was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Louise Baur’s research interests include the prevention and management of obesity in children and young people, health service responses to obesity, food marketing and children, and the measurement of obesity-related behaviours. She is Director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood-Translate, one of the CREs that contributes to the Collaboration for Enhanced Research Impact.
