Professor Louise Baur AM

Lead Investigator

Professor Baur AM is Professor and Head of Child and Adolescent Health at the University of Sydney, and has a conjoint appointment as Professor in the Sydney School of Public Health. She is also a consultant paediatrician at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney. She is on the Editorial Board of Paediatric Obesity (formerly, Founding Editor-in-Chief).

Among her various community roles, Professor Baur is a member of the Governing Board of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, and was a Director of World Vision Australia (2009-2017).

Her research interests include the prevention and management of obesity in children and young people, health service responses to obesity, food marketing and children, and the measurement of obesity-related behaviours. She is Director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood, one of the CREs that contributes to the Collaboration for Enhanced Research Impact. In 2010, Professor Baur was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
