Ms Marks is a Research Officer and PhD candidate based at the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics, University of Sydney. Leah has received a Prevention Centre scholarship to complete her PhD, which is part of a larger Prevention Centre project Harnessing the power of citizen science for prevention. Her research seeks to explore the potential for citizen science in preventive health policy and practice, through understanding how citizen science approaches are perceived and applied in prevention, how they align with existing approaches to public engagement, and how and through what pathways citizen science may be used to inform policy and practice.

Leah holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health from the University of Sydney. Prior to undertaking her PhD candidature, she was working across a range of research projects within the Prevention Centre aimed at addressing preventable chronic disease through program and policy implementation, increasing public support for population-level approaches to chronic disease prevention, and effective public health communication and engagement.
