Join us for this research seminar presented by Professor Sharon Friel, an ARC Laureate Fellow, Professor of Health Equity and Director of the Menzies Centre for Health Governance; and Dr Alexandra Chung, a public health nutritionist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Health and Social Care Unit.

Professor Sharon Friel is an ARC Laureate Fellow, Professor of Health Equity and Director of the Menzies Centre for Health Governance at the School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet), Australian National University. Sharon’s research focuses on the political economy of health; governance and the planetary, social and commercial determinants of health inequities. Her 2019 book “Climate Change and the People’s Health” highlights the importance of addressing the global consumptogenic system.

Dr Alex Chung is a public health nutritionist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Health and Social Care Unit, Monash University. Alex’s research interests include childhood obesity prevention, health equity and the role of government policy to equitably improve children’s diets. Her current research is focused on identifying opportunities for regulation to protect children from unhealthy food marketing.
