Childhood obesity remains a major public health challenge in Australia and globally. In Australia, one in four children is already affected by overweight or obesity even before they start school. Excess weight in early childhood contributes to higher risks of chronic diseases and poor mental health in later life, hence prevention in early life is important.
This webinar will provide an overview of early childhood obesity prevention research across Australia, present new findings, and discuss the challenges and opportunities of research and translation in this field. It will feature new findings from TOPCHILD, COS-EPOCH, the INFANT program and Healthy Beginnings work.
