A big welcome to this year’s first edition of The Chronicle – the e-newsletter of the Prevention Centre. Due to the growing interest in prevention research stories, news and events, The Chronicle will now be published monthly.
Since our inception in 2013, the Centre’s research-policy-practice partnerships, collaborations and networks have developed and grown. There are now more than 70 prevention research projects on a diverse range of topics (either completed or underway) conducted by many of Australia’s leading prevention researchers and policy partners. We are also excited by the Collaboration for Enhanced Research Impact; formed in 2020, with other prevention-focused research centres joining in 2021.
There is also a thriving research network of early and mid-career colleagues, and three emerging online communities of practice on public health law, qualitative research methods, and the economics of prevention. Contact us if you are interested in joining.
The intersect between health, economics and prevention continues to be especially topical; for those leading prevention services and programs and studying multi-directional relationships. Policy colleagues have highlighted many important areas for further examination through an economics lens. Potential topics include: how to measure and communicate the value and co-benefits of prevention; embedding prevention into economic recovery; addressing productivity with equity; and enhancing the role of prevention within health services. All important considerations for future prevention research agendas.
We look forward to the launch of #PreventionWorksLIVE and the opportunity to chat with some of Australia’s leading prevention change makers.
