Associate Professor Louise Freebairn is the Director of Knowledge Translation and Health Outcomes in the Epidemiology Section at ACT Health. She is a member of the Prevention Centre’s Scientific Advisory Committee and holds an Adjunct Associate Professor affiliation with the National Centre of Epidemiology and Population Health at the Australian National University and the Menzies School for Health Policy at the University of Sydney.

Louise’s research interests include building capacity to co-produce knowledge and using evidence to guide policy decision-making with an emphasis on participatory dynamic simulation modelling. She was a Lead Investigator on a Prevention Centre research project that used big data and dynamic simulation modelling to tackle child and adolescent overweight and obesity in Australia.

Louise has worked with health services in the ACT and NSW since 1997 in several areas including clinical psychology, health services planning and epidemiology. She has also held a ministerial appointment to the ACT Children and Young People Death Review Committee since 2012 and was a member of the ACT Health Human Research Ethics Social Research Sub-committee from 2013 to 2015.
